Why They Love Being a Student

He approaches every question like he's on a quest for gold. He digs into the details, exploring from every angle. Every teacher immediately recognizes his neurodivergence, curiosity and aptitude, offering him out-of-the-box ways to nurture his curiosity. Even when he gets a question wrong, he tries again like he's respawning in a video game, ready to try again. He loves coaching others, with natural leadership and patience, he passes on his knowledge wherever he can.

Favorite Subject & Why

Math is a language and it makes sense to him. He started learning double digit addition at the age of 3, initially working with his dad on small problems. Math is just a puzzle to solve, and his excitement in getting the answer right further propels him to the next level. He's taken on additional interests tangential to math including coding languages, circuits, and working to solve a Rubik's cube. At every opportunity, he even helps his pre-k sister with reading, counting, and addition.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

Rather than leaving him feeling unchallenged in a typical classroom environment, we’d love for Jackson to be completely uninhibited in his learning. An award like this would allow us to foster his curiosity and love of learning through STEM-based camps, after school programs, tutors, or even a private school that will support accelerated education including coding and robotics.
