Why They Love Being a Student

Gavin loves to learn and socialize, not only with his peers, but also with his teachers. He fills his school days working on special projects, participating in student council, and helping out his teachers with anything they need. He is also involved in a leadership program through his school and is given the opportunity to mentor younger students. He enjoys passing on his passion for education.

Favorite Subject & Why

Science is Gavin’s favorite subject, and more specifically biology! He loves learning about everything from cellular structure to human anatomy. He learns something new everyday and there is no end in site! He hopes to become a Bioengineer, at least this week…. It changes often as he becomes excited about a new topic!

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

Gavin attended an educational opportunity through the World Strides organization last year and absolutely loved it. He travelled to Boston and learned about their history and participated in leadership activities with children from around the country. He will be invited back every year to travel to a different state, however it can be very expensive. Gavin would use this award to stay in the program and gain valuable leadership and educational opportunities.
