Yes! Every vote by donation is a direct donation to DTCare, a 501(c)(3) charity. Votes by donation are deductible for federal income tax purposes. DTCare will subsequently make the grant to The Planetary Society after the winner is announced. Donors will receive a receipt via email.
We have a strict “no refund” policy which voters agree to when they make a donation. Since winners are decided based upon votes the public casts, we do not issue refunds once a vote has been fully processed in our system. As a voter, you are responsible for understanding this upon casting votes for the competitor in the competition.
