Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
Ascher loves nothing more than learning. It's hard to get him to turn it off and go to bed. He'll catch me watching astronomy or physics reels and join in, asking a million questions. At times he gets bored with school when he's not getting new information since he's ahead of the class in math. But this gives him a chance to be the teacher, which he also loves. He's loves helping others, especially teaching his 3yo brother, Avery. I'd be lying if I said he doesn't teach his parents too.
Favorite Subject & Why
He's recently gotten into geography because his grandma got him a world map. He's very close to memorizing all the countries of the world. All of this is mostly self taught. I've learned more watching him than I did in school. His recent geography obsession has morphed into learning about history as he uses online maps with timeline sliders to learn about how countries come and go. His favorite subject is subject to change. A few weeks ago I would have said math, but recently it's geography.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Ascher is in public school, so there aren't many expenses with schooling at the moment, but I imagine college is going to be a part of his future. I will push him to do what he loves, even if that isn't using his gifts. He tells me he'll be the first person on Mars. Who wouldn't be proud of that? He'll always have my support even if his dream is to be a garbage man. He got potential well beyond myself. We'd put the money towards his future college expenses or whatever comes along on his path.
