Why They Love Being a Student

Athena is fascinated how she can travel to different worlds through the beauty of reading. She shares her knowledge of different topics with her peers and teaches them books are beautiful. Athena loves to read!

Favorite Subject & Why

Math and reading. She likes how math works for everyday problems and tries to implement math in cooking, playing tennis or grocery shopping. Athena likes reading because she’s transported to a fantasy world where anything is possible.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

The award would help Athena’s educational goals by allowing her to explore the possibility to solve real world problems- such as aiding homeless animals in need and bringing water to Sudan villages. Athena read the Spanish book “Una Larga Travesía Hasta El Agua,” and she was deeply inspired by Salva’s water mission- to bring water to Sudan communities and give girls in Sudan the opportunity to go to school instead of searching for water all day.
