Why They Love Being a Student

Atlas loves to learn new things and believes that “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!” (throw-back to Schoolhouse Rock). Like with any student, there are days that he gets frustrated but he pushes through and perseveres. These resilient qualities make him a great student. As a homeschool student, he loves that we can find the value of learning no matter where we are. Whether we’re at a theme park, zoo, driving in the car, or just hanging out at home, he finds wonder in the opportunity to learn something new.

Favorite Subject & Why

Atlas loves science, especially physics. He likes to figure out how things work. The engineering of any object fascinates him. He also loves science experiments. Mixing ingredients or combining materials to make something new brings him joy. Lastly, he loves to study animals. Biology allows him to learn fun and new animal facts.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

If we were awarded the $20,000 prize, we would put it towards more field trips to zoos, aquariums, and museums. We believe that hands-on learning is the BEST way to gain an understanding of the beautiful world around us. One of the reasons we homeschool is so that Atlas can be immersed in many different cities around the United States and cultures around the world. $20,000 would allow us to do just that.
