Why They Love Being a Student

Connor loves being a student because he has always enjoyed learning something new. He enters every class with excitement about what he may gain from each day. Even when he doesn’t understand something, which is quite rare, he immediately jumps into researching it at home so that he is prepared for the next day. Also, he loves all his school friends and greatly enjoys meeting with them to talk about their lives.

Favorite Subject & Why

Connor’s favorite subject is band, though his favorite core subject is math. He loves both for completely opposite reasons. He enjoys the structure and rigidity of math, that everything is provable. He loves puzzles of all sorts and his enjoyment of math seemingly derives from that love. However, his love of music is from the freeness of it. There are certainly rules, but they are far less rigid. He truly feels that music, specifically playing guitar and saxophone, can express who he is.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

A $20,000 award would support Connor’s educational goals by ensuring he can finish his last year of high school. He dreams to go to MIT for college and needs to get through this last year and a half to do so. Few if any other schools will be able to provide for him the foundation to reach this dream. In addition. he is one of the top five students in his grade and has a serious chance of becoming valedictorian if he is able to enter his senior year.
