Why They Love Being a Student

Chike truly sees the world like a giant puzzle to be solved, and school is where he collects what he needs to experiment, understand and reimagine the world. Like the tidbits of information on animals he'll share (unprompted), or the tidbits of materials he finds (and we step on) to engineer new inventions. Being a student, Chike gets full permission to be himself: a curious world explorer, while he also gains the discipline to sustain his interests and follow through on the scientific process.

Favorite Subject & Why

Science is hands-down Chike's favorite subject. Chike is captivated by wildlife, oceans, ecosystems, elements, planets; overall he's fascinated by how the natural world works, and wants to know what we can do to improve or preserve it. Science is where Chike's natural curiosity gets to shine. It's the subject where he's praised for asking questions, and for taking things apart. Chike also loves that his grandma was a science teacher, and believes he inherited her passion for discovery. (He did!)

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

An award of this magnitude would change Chike’s life! We would use it for educational experiences that otherwise wouldn’t be possible like science camps and programs, and for materials for his endless experiments. It would also help him pursue a dream he’s had since he was five: becoming a world record holder. Whether engineering the tallest LEGO tower or planting the most trees, Chike is on a mission! This support would help us turn his big scientific goals into reality before he turns 10.
