Why They Love Being a Student

Christian is extremely curious and intelligent, so he thrives on positive relationships at school with his friends, teammates, and teachers. He is a top student-athlete, captain of 2 varsity sports, and president of the Honor Society. These motivate him to do well, and to my dismay, he loves debate, philosophy, and politics. Yet it is clear, as he explains and argues a point, his fascination with topics learned aids him in being valedictorian with a perfect attendance record of 10+ years.

Favorite Subject & Why

My son's favorite subject is economics, and part of the reason is that last summer, he joined the "Foundation for Teaching Economics" at Rice University and fell in LOVE with it! Christian is fascinated by how the choices we make every day can affect worldwide events. From understanding supply and demand to how markets and incentives work, he believes we can use economics to our advantage. He loves discussing how human behavior, market trends, and history impact economics and our futures.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

This award would help my son greatly in obtaining his degree while continuing to help others in our community. We are currently going through a difficult financial situation, as I lost my job in June 2025, and my husband works in remodeling. So he is affected by weather and project availability. In addition, we have 2 SBA disaster loans due to flooding and hurricane damage to our home, carrying loans and credit card debt related to recovery expenses.
