Since the age of three, his heroes have been authors, scientists, and mathematicians. For him, the classroom is a sanctuary—a safe haven where he can fully indulge his curiosity. He truly thrives when mastering a new concept or diving into thoughtful, expert-level conversations with his teachers.

Favorite Subject & Why

Dean's favorite subject is science with math being a close second. For him, school is like a giant laboratory. He naturally gravitates toward math and science because those subjects offer a way to solve puzzles, test ideas, and find concrete answers. Dean does not enjoy just memorizing facts; he wants to understand the 'why' and 'how' behind everything, and the classroom provides him the perfect environment and guidance to do exactly that.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

While Dean enjoys typical summer activities, he often finds the break from school unfulfilling; learning is truly his happy place. This award would support his desire for continuous education by funding advanced summer opportunities, such as specialized camps, summer classes, and conferences led by researchers, scientists and Nobel laureates. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be directly invested into his future university education.
