Why They Love Being a Student

Everett loves being a student because he loves learning new things! Ever since he was a little guy, he's wanted to understand how things work. At one, he would observe ant hills on our walks, trying to figure out what they were doing. At two, he wanted to know all about clocks and caterpillars. At three, it was space and the universe. At four, he asked for a microscope and a bacteria grow kit, and so on... He gets very excited and loves sharing his knowledge with others, too.

Favorite Subject & Why

Science! Especially biology. He's currently very interested in plants, Tesla coils, and the universe. The other day, he told me that he wishes that quantum tunneling was easy. He also really loves history, but he doesn't know it yet. He's constantly asking me about "how things were back then," and loves to learn about the "classic" version of things and what our ancestors did. I think he's drawn to these things because they are observable, and he really wants to know why and how.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

Everett was recently accepted to a private school that is far more suited to educate kids like him who do not learn well under the constraints of a traditional public school. He is brilliant, and he has level 1 Autism and ADHD, so his body needs to move more and he often has many questions that go unanswered in a traditional classroom. The school where he was accepted is a perfect fit and very expensive, even after generous financial aid. $20k would pay for 1.5 years tuition for him!
