Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
He has gone above and beyond in school and ensures he succeeds in every class he takes. He has pushed himself out of comfort zones and into college level classes since his sophomore year but even before that he pushed himself in middle school by taking high school level courses and thriving in them. He also enjoys helping other students by tutoring them early in the morning before school starts he is already there helping others.
Favorite Subject & Why
My son has a passion for math and STEM. Since he was a small child, he has loved numbers, legos and puzzles. He could count before he turned 3 so his passion started a long time ago. He is now a senior in high school and is taking one of the highest calculus offered in school. Math has always come easy to him but he chose to challenge himself more this year in math and it is paying off. He wants to become a bio-medical engineer so he could help others in ways he was helped when he was little.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
He has been accepted into Virginia Tech - Engineering. Part of the difficulty in attending a school 4 hours away is we have to fund tuition and living expenses for him along with books, etc. We also have 2 other children at home, another going to college in 2 years. Being a military family we were unable to do a pre-paid college program since we did not know where we would end up for retirement, we have limited funds saved for college so this would go a long way to alleviate the financial stress
