America's Favorite Student will share their educational journey in the pages of Reader’s Digest, highlighting the power of learning and inspiring readers nationwide.
Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
He enjoys being a student because he loves to learn and make new friends. We have stressed the importance of being a lifelong learner and ever curious. He has taken this quite seriously. Alexa is probably quite tired of his million questions about planes!
Favorite Subject & Why
He loves math and engineering! Since he was a baby he loved big numbers. I think this stemmed from his fascination with planets and space. He could easily tell you how big the planets are, or the distance from one planet in relation to the sun. Now, he gets to appreciate how fundamental math is in understanding concepts like distances, and calculating things like thrust and lift to get big things in motion.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Ultimately, Daelan wants to be a pilot AND an engineer. I think this award would go a long way in supporting his dreams by ensuring that he gets opportunities like these to nurture his interests.
