Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
Hank loves to learn and loves even more sharing what he learns. His classmates think he’s is the smartest 5th grader in their school and that he should go to Harvard. He actually wants to go to MIT and has asked me to start saving money for his tuition. Hank teaches me something new everyday. He has the memory of an elephant and once he understands something he is able to explain it to others. Hank has perfect attendance at school and wakes himself up early everyday so that he won’t miss school.
Favorite Subject & Why
Hanks favorite subject is math. He is currently doing math nearly two grade levels above his grade. But his second favorite subject is science. Last summer he completely took apart an old dryer so that he could have all the parts to work on his inventions. I got him a book about the solar system and he reads it everyday and teaches me what he learns like parallax angles and Proxima Centuri. He learned about how distance between planets is measured and thinks it could be done more efficiently.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Hank is set on going to an Ivy League school so a scholarship of this magnitude would really help him. When I told him about how expensive MIT was he decided he is going to start saving every dollar he gets to help pay for him to go. He’s not old enough to open a bank account yet, but he made me promise that as soon as he is I will make him one. But Hank doesn’t care about money, he leaves that job to me. He really wants to meet Bill Nye and talk about his ideas regarding space and black holes.
