Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
Henry loves being a student because learning genuinely excites him! He sees learning as an adventure. Henry eagerly gathers knowledge through conversation, books, online resources, and real-life experiences. He is always curious about how the world works. What makes Henry happiest, though, is helping others learn - his teachers often ask him to mentor classmates or students with special needs who are struggling. He encourages them, and celebrates their progress along the way.
Favorite Subject & Why
When asked this question, Henry is torn between reading and math. In his words, "Math seems like a never-ending challenge. Once you master one level of math, there's always another, more challenging level." For reading, he said "Reading can take me anywhere... like to make believe worlds, or learning about our world, or just something funny to make me laugh!" Both subjects fuel his love for learning.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Rather than waiting to help fund college, the award funds would be used now to deepen Henry’s love of learning through enriching opportunities, like advanced math programs, diverse books, educational travel, and hands-on STEM experiences. It would also allow him to attend camps and workshops where he could learn from mentors, collaborate with curious peers, and continue developing his wide range of academic interests. The award funds would be truly life changing for a kid like Henry.
