Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
I asked Hunter, “Why do you love being a student?” He responded with, “Because I like being with my friends.” 😁 Hunter prides himself on being honest. I asked him if he likes to learn, and he said, “Sometimes.” 😅 He started Muay Thai kickboxing classes this year and loves being active! Hunter has Amblyopia and sometimes has to wear an eye patch to school. But, that doesn’t stop him from being his happy wonderful self, which is a testament to how resilient he’s become. 💪
Favorite Subject & Why
Hunter loves STEM! 🔭🔬📡🧑💻👷🧮 He’s been a huge fan of science, technology, engineering, and math since he was 2 years old. It all started with the wheels on his toy cars. 🚗 He would lay on the floor as a toddler staring at the wheels as he glided them across the floor in front of his face, contemplating how they work. Today, he’s inspired by Bill Nye AND Mark Rober.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
If Hunter was awarded $20,000 towards his education, we’d utilize it for a private GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) program. Our county doesn’t have any GATE programs in any of the schools here. His teachers have stated they would recommend the GATE program for him if we had it available. As a 3rd grader, he reads as well as a 9th grader in their 5th month of school, and has math skills equivalent to a 6th or 7th grader. 🧠 He keeps asking us for a Biotechnology kit. We said, “No.” 😅
