Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
She loves learning new things about the world, and helps her peers understand the lessons at school and improve their grades, as well as demonstrating how to be a good friend. She likes getting to know her classmates and teachers and is the one other kids go to when they have a problem. She’s always learning and ready to use her knowledge to help.
Favorite Subject & Why
Jade loves history, and psychology. She has a passion for learning how and why history occurred, and how that affects society today. She independently studies history outside of the classroom, including some of the darker moments of history that aren’t conventionally taught in public high school. She’s able to see the psychological roots of the events of the past, and does her part in helping others understand how they can heal generational trauma and avoid causing harm in our future.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Jade lives with her mother, a K-12 substitute teacher, who will likely struggle to pay for Jade’s college tuition. She recently enrolled at her local college, Tennessee Technological University, where she intends to begin earning a major in psychology while continuing to live at home. Having a degree in psychology will enable Jade to start a career helping the community at large, while also providing for her own mental health needs with art therapy. The $20k prize will help fund her education.
