Why They Love Being a Student

Jasmine loves being a student because she knows it’s important to succeed. She knows if she’s good at school and plans for her future that she’ll be successful. She tells me she thinks studying is fun! I’ve seen all the things she’s memorized for her classes. She tells me all the things she understands because of her work. I’ve seen her help other students who don’t understand the classes, and they’re happy because of her explanations.

Favorite Subject & Why

Jasmine’s favorite subject is science. She loves finding out how things work and why they work the way they do. She soon found biology-type topics to be of special interest to her. She would read huge books about anything to do with science and biology. The next thing I knew, she was invited to do real research in the summer of her sophomore year at Boone HS in the ISU biochemistry department. Jasmine loves to dig into microscopic things to figure out about cells and how they operate.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

This $20000 award would be life-changing for Jasmine and our family. We have a strong family who support each other and this award would help her to achieve all the educational goals she has, and she wouldn’t worry so much about us. Her father and I never finished high school, so this money would make it so she could go to college and become an example for generations to come in our family. Not only would she be able to support herself with this money, but she would support science.
