Why They Love Being a Student

Kya loves to learn, especially about different cultures and the natural world. She enjoys working alongside others to enhance her learning . She often talks to teachers about her interests . She used to be very shy and not assured in herself but has worked hard to come out of her shell .

Favorite Subject & Why

Kya liked blue environmental science elective the best so far. She really liked learning hands on about our local water ways and especially about the local wildlife. She attended a girls marine science camp this past summer , and it really encouraged her to further learn about marine sciences . She also really enjoys reading , social studies and cultural studies , and art .

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

Kya has aspirations to attend a marine science high school along the Jersey shore , or private high school that specializes in her interests . She just turned 13 so we are starting to volunteer with beach clean ups and at our local food bank . She would like to not just attend high school , but to work along side others with similar interests to make a difference in our community and natural world . I am a single parent so she is limited by our financial situation that I don’t want to limit her
