Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
Loki has had a strong fascination with numbers, letters & stories since around the age of 2 & began reading on his own not long after. He was SO excited to start kindergarten this year so he could continue learning, make new friends and "take tests to show off [his] smarty-pants". Since being in school, he's become a fast favorite amongst the preK-8th grade students and staff. He rarely wants to leave, even when sick, & has even joined an afterschool program, Champions, which he LOVES!
Favorite Subject & Why
Loki is incredibly well-rounded academically, with NWEA scores for reading & math placing him in the 99th percentile nationally, & comprehension of both near the 4th grade level at just 6. While he will enthusiastically tell you, "gym!" & then list music & art, it's clear Loki has a love of math. He has a strong understanding of multiplication, perfect squares with roots 1-12, & can double the number 1 up to 8,192 with speed. Not to mention, one of his favorite toys are math manipulatives.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Loki was diagnosed autistic at 4.5 years old. At the time of diagnosis, it was noted that he had "no meaningful communication" & it was stated that he may never be fully independent. Less than 2 years later, thanks to therapy & school, you would never guess that to be the case. Loki loves to talk & socialize! If he were to win, the money would be put towards more therapeutic services & extracurricular programs suited to his many interests & needs, all of which would fuel his impressive mind.
