Why They Love Being a Student

Words cannot describe why she loves being a student, she strongly believes that being a student is a commitment to yourself. “Learning is an escape from what’s happening right in-front of you, it allows you to find the tools you need to make change.”-Madelyn. For Maddy, learning does not stop in her highschool classes as she pursues competitive dance in which she describes her dances studio as her “second home”. Madelyn also spends time sharing her passion for dance and through tutoring youth.

Favorite Subject & Why

Madelyn’s favorite school subject is Health science. She chose this as her favorite school subject as, “it allowed me to find my passion in Occupational Therapy and Cognitive Sciences”. Maddy describes learning about this subject as “enticing while also challenging”. She is passionate about learning this material through online college classes so that she can pursue a doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

An award this generous would support my child’s educational goals tremendously. It would allow Madelyn to attend a University that provides an Occupational Therapy or Cognitive science major with far less stress. She will be able to continue serving her community as a Therapy Aid, Pre-school/ school aged child dance teacher at our local non-profit. It would also allow Madelyn to continue attending a summer science program at a local university.
