Why They Love Being a Student

Oskar has had a thirst for knowledge since he was very young. Being a student means he can build on his love of learning, and share what he learns with his friends and family. He has a natural ability to inspire anyone who gets to know him! He is naturally bright and loves math, reading, and science (as a whole). He sees each and every day as an opportunity to learn something new, or go in depth with topics he is naturally interested in.

Favorite Subject & Why

Oskar is a huge fan of all things science, specifically the periodic table of elements. He says, "it is truly amazing that approximately only ninety elements make up everything that we see". He also loves to collect elements and share his collection with others as he teaches them all he has learned. He has read many books on science and elements, including adult level books. He is like a sponge, absorbing all that he can about elements. He even dressed up as Uranium (92) for Halloween!

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

Oskar loves chemistry, the periodic table, rocks and minerals, and climate science. He is a hands-on learner and the award would allow him to build his dream science lab! He would be able to complete the periodic table element set he has been collecting, purchase a new microscope and slides, and a geiger counter. He would like to attend a summer science camp and this award would provide money for camp fees and travel. He would save some money for college and science equipment for his school.
