Why They Love Being a Student

Pravin's curiosity is his hallmark trait. Whether he is learning about how things work, science topics, or deciphering codes, he thirsts for new information. His curiosity stems from his love of books. As a young child, Pravin enjoyed going to the library to learn. He would sit with rapt attention, soaking in story time with an attention span of over 2 hours at age 2. He later found a passion for "how things work" style of books and books with informative narratives like Magic School Bus.

Favorite Subject & Why

Math! He loves being able to show number relationships and concepts concretely. Pravin enjoys doing math worksheets while other students are playing video games. When learning addition, he would ask his parents to create complex addition problems on paper for him to solve. Today, he still enjoys playng doubling the number game. He extends his math saviness by helping others, like his younger sister, whom he lectures about math theory and helps her study.

How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals

Books and more books. Pravin thoroughly enjoys reading. This award would help him spread his love of books to all of those around him. He would buy and donate books for the local libraries that helped shape his love of learning and for his school, a Title 9 school, that is always in need of updating its book collection. And he would always purchase a ream of paper so he could continue to practice his math theorems.
