Stella is age 7, wrapping up 1st grade. Teachers say she is their “rule follower” and a friend to all. She brings her big smile each day.

Stella loves the “bright light” moment when math equations click. Stella loves the reward of being able to read a story to her little sister. She loves the excitement of messy experiments and working on new art projects. She loves going to school every morning to see her friends and teachers. School has been so exploratory and a wonderful foundation for Stella. She also has found joy in joining her schools Girl Scout troop. Stella loves being a student and is enthusiastic toward learning.
Favorite Subject & Why
Stella loves reading in school because she gets to use her imagination and create these images of what she is reading. She tested into 3rd grade reading so chapter books are a new world to her. Although it’s not a subject in 1st grade Stella would say science experiments are her favorite though because she loves getting to work with gooey/slimy/fluffy matter. She is obsessed with volcanoes and constellations!
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Oh my goodness, Stella could use that money for school supplies/after school programs/art classes. She would probably want to give back and give some of the award to our amazing staff and celebrate them in some fun way! Stella’s Elementary School is actually the original school that the book series, Junie B Jones originated from. Her school has a real yellow school bus in her library. The school is amazing & we are truly lucky to have the awesome administrators we do.
