Learn MoreWhy They Love Being a Student
He can't help it! Tommy will ask ANYONE ANYTHING -- the postman, the cashier at the store, the neighbor, the distant relative, the random acquaintance of his dad's -- He will ask them ALL questions. Deep questions. Questions about their jobs, their talents, their knowledge, their background. His grandpa says that Tommy likes to ask questions that you can't just say "yes or no" to. He is observant and unafraid to wonder.
Favorite Subject & Why
Tommy loves engineering. He loves to create and invent. He studies "How things work" books for fun, and he comes to us often, saying things like, "Do you want to know how they make dollar bills?" Or "Look at how they design ships to not sink." He loves when we throw electronics away, because then he's allowed to take them apart to see how they work. He is constantly designing and inventing - cars, underwater vessels, houses, flying machines. It's less of a subject, and more of a passion.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
Honestly, Tommy would probably use it to buy parts to make a car or an airplane. He has made 3-4 different "vehicles" over the last several years (with varying levels of functionality). He constantly tries to get his little sisters to band together to help work and raise money to buy parts for building a car. He draws vehicles with incredible detail, and understands HOW THINGS WORK, with incredible ability for an 11 year old. He also might apply some of that to flight lessons!
