I always ask questions like why and how scientific processes occur. I know physics is challenging but I study hard to satisfy my own curiosity. Working with others, whether it is with a fellow student or fellow astronomers, is always enjoyable. As a member of the Phoenix Astronomical Society, I am connected to a community that is passionate about astronomy. They show me that astronomy is a life long passion, and a life long commitment to the pursuit of knowledge.
Favorite Subject & Why
I became fascinated with the solar system and universe since receiving my first book about it at 5 years old. I am fortunate to live in a dark sky state and love to observe the night sky, including trips to 3 observatories. I also excel at math and understand its importance in astrophysics.
How $20,000 Would Support Their Goals
I am a sophomore in high school and would use the money for data science training in summer science research programs, and also save some to apply towards college tuition. I was invited to research with NASA this summer but must pay for training in statistics and data science. This award would allow me to achieve that goal!
